Appendix, Appendix and more Appendix!

Anyone out there working on the big essay. I've been off the blog for a week, not purposefully but found all of my study time trying to piece together my ideas for the assessment piece. I am struggling with the Harvard referencing system. Yes it's in the hand book, but there are still grey areas for me. The hardest task however is getting it down to 750 words.

Anyone else struggling to get this done?

  1. Yes! Yes! Yes!
I have been spending a lot of time piecing together all the information I have collected over the last few months and now I seem to have enough to write a book! I have decided to go ahead and write my assignment and do all the editing after! I am hoping that reading through a finished piece will help me decide which bits are of better value. However, I am concerned with making the right decisions. 750 words really is not that much at all so I guess the key is to have a really well sculpted piece of work.

  2. A well sculpted piece of work, I like it...

I have sent off my first draft. Feeling really nervous now, I'm not sure what's going to happen...

  3. I have begun the mammoth task! Ahhhh.

I am going down the same route as Kelly and writing whatever i want and then coming back to edit it. Although, i'm having massive memory blocks and its taking me forever to write!

  4. Luke,

I am having the same problems! The trouble is one thought process seems to lead to something else and then before I know it there is another 100 words!

I guess I need to get 'sculpting'!

  5. I feel the same! I'm finding it so hard to cut down to 750 words and most likely cutting out key reflections, but how are you prioritising them? I have found that I am linking alot of my idea back to my blog because that is where most of my reflections are fully explained...I too have sent of my first draft but was advised to reflect more...how are you all going about this?

  7. Hey Ahmet,

I sent my first draft off and received feedback. I have no idea whether the amount of feedback meant it was good or bad as I have nothing to compare it to, but I have now sent back draft 2 (which in practice is actually version 5 or 6 as I found myself re-writing, re-writing and re-writing!).
I concur with you all when you mention the task of fitting all our findings into 750 words being an arduous one (I have just laughed at the words I have chosen to use for my last sentence - I think that's what University does to you!!) -
So what on earth will Module Two unfold.....?????
    Catch up soon,

  8. Hi Ahmet,
I too am in the same position, finding the 'sculpting' difficult. I mean I have so much I need to really hack instead of sculpt! As Simone has said, the prioritising reflection can be a the most difficult...what are the main points I want to express? I suppose the appendices can be there for other relections to lay as part of referneces and evidence. This has lead me to draft upon draft, as Jo has done!
Fingers crossed I am on the right lines(?)
Good luck all, looking forward (with chatterning knees) for module 2
